I am looking for live concert recordings of
the Great Madurai Somu and also of Chidambaram

  Hi. I bought two live concert tapes of Madurai Somu at Raaga Music Store, 1016 E El Camino Real
  Sunnyvale, CA (408) 616-8864. One is from the Great Maestros Series on Vani cassettes and the other is Inreco 2771-C-462. The latter is the higher quality recording.
  
  In retrun for this info, please tell me about the life and achievements of Madurai Somu. The Inreco cassette has made me a fan.

  Great website. The photo gallery is astonishing. The number of photos is amazing, each one rare and precious. Being a 14 year old mridangist, I never got a chance to see stalwarts like Murghabhoppathy and Chittoor, let alone Somu. Wonderful job.
