Are CDs available which have pre-recorded tambura tracks for different standard shruthis? This could probably provide a better replacement for tampura in concerts and is easy to carry.

  I do know someone who has them, I don't know where he got them. In these days of PCs and writeable CDs you could probably make your own fairly easily.
