Ustad Allarakha Khan passes away
MUMBAI: Ustad Allarakha Khan, the
country's leading Tabla exponent of the
Punjab gharana, who raised the tabla to
the status of a solo instrument, died here
early on Thursday after a heart attack.
He was 81.
The Tabla maestro, who was in a state of
shock following the death of his younger
daughter, a widow, last evening of a heart
attack, passed away at 03:30 am at his
'Simla House' residence at Napean Sea
road, family sources said. He was born on
April 29, 1919, at Phagwal village of
Jammu, 80 kms from Lahore.

Oh my god !! This is absolutely incredible.
I saw him a few days ago and there was not even th slightest problem
It would be really nice if some knowledgeable tabla player can post a nice message summing up his life achievements dedicated to him
His music will now enchant the GODS in heaven.
