I am interested in knowing what other Harry Potter readers think of the characters in the books. Having read the books, I have come to view Hagrid as a sort of a grandfather figure to Harry, in that he is friendly, yet very strict and protective of him when need be.
I don't quite believe that Sirius is treating Harry as he would James, he is obviously much younger and less mature. But that's my view what do you think?

If you want to talk to others about Harry Potter and related topics, especially the characters, check out www.yahoogroups.com or www.schnoogle.com or www.livejournal.com.
First is a site for groups and chatting, a forum.
Second is full of fanfiction.
Third is online journals that you can make friends on, etc.
All very cool. Welcome to the fandom. :D

i know it's been a while since this was posted but in direct response, i agree on what you say about hagrid. However, i also think that Dumbledore takes that position. Hagrid is that grandfather that's really friendly and stuff but still protective and such; Dumbledore is like the grandfather on the other side of the family (even though one side is muggle). Dumbledore is there for Harry when he can be but not always. He tells him the interesting stories as many grandfathers do.
As for Sirius, his character confuses me. I also have trouble figuring what part of the family he would fill. I think he's a paternal figure but not a very good one. do you have anything more? does anyone else care to help?
