All songs are just great in unnal mudiyum thambi. Take 'punjai undu nanjai undu', for instance. Just as gemini ganesan says in the film, its simple but great tune in suddha dhanyasi.
But i dont know how IR (or for that matter any MD) manages to compose tunes like enna samayalo where swaras become the lyrics of the song. Does the lyricist compose the swaras or IR himself does it. No idea!

BTW, in the song, amudhe thamizhe, Any idea who the male singer is who sings a couple of lines in the middle of the song? (The situation goes like this :When one of the female singers go wrong this male singer corrects them and says "apdi illama, thambi evlo azhaga paduraanga paar" and sings the line "tamizhe naalum nee paadu". )

the same song had initially been composed for the film "manipoor maamiyaar" way back in the 1980's i think..but i guess the film never got released..just small changes in the pallavi which goes like "samaiyal paadamae"...

Whenever I listen to Meettadha oru veenai..... Reethi gowlai, All of bgms has shades of 'kousalyaa suprajaa...'?? Please help me! love, vinatha.

Yesterday I was watching Manal kayiru... there is a song 'mandhira punnagai...' singararasam brought out beautifully. I add 'illam sangeetham....' Vani & Balu duet too!
