Dorai
Dorai, you are partly correct. I say partly because the second charanam is in Hindolam-- the rest of the song is Sallaapam-based.
iruvar vaazhum in film aadhi.
raaga ??
Regarding Ra Ra...,
Sallapam, a janya of Vahulabharanam
Hindolam, a janya of Natabhairavi
Sallapam follows this scale
S G3 M1 D1 N2 S
S N2 D1 M1 G3 S
whereas Hindolam follows
S G2 M1 D1 N2 S
S N2 D1 M1 G2 S
How good will we be if we fight on the usage of G3 or G2 in the charanams? Lets leave that song to rest in peace.
Indrajith
Na Bhootho...Na Bhavishyathi !!
Indrajith,
Thanks for your insights. Do you disagree with Nitya? Just curious. The song sounded to me like Hindolam when I first watched it in the theater. Also, there are lot of small bits that come in the movie that does not sound like Hindolam or Sallapam.
Any more insights. Nitya or Indrajit ?
The song is SALLAPAM with some anya swaras for me. I know I might be entirely wrong.

Srini.
We are what we do repeatedly.Excellence then is not an act, but a habit.
Srini, I doubt that either of the songs you mentioned can be mapped to any raaga, although the first song you mentioned (Paruvame...) exhibits some shades of Pahadi.
nitya,
did you listen to iruvar vaazhum song in film aadhi? what is the raaga?
Nitya:
I see vague shades of Kalyani in Kodai Kala Katre. forgive me if am ridiculously wrong![]()
