[tscii:c12ee5a5fd]Nata bhairavi??? Give me reference for us to learn!

I am familiar with Sree Valli..... Papanasam sivan Keerthanai in Ragam - Nata Bhairavi.

Shri.Ilayaraja's Maniyae mani.... Nadodi thendral is a Nata bhairavi melody

We already spoke about its corresponding hindustani equivalent ASAVERI earlier.
    I have posted a Shri.Voleti's keerthanai rt.

Shri.Oleti Venkateswarlu’s Cencert - 1, the second track ‘ra ra...’ in raga Asaveri.

    Pallavi of Kaadoram lolakku....
that beautiful take of in andhamaanai paarungal..... with chandram baja mana... MSS.

for that I am giving reference of Badhrachala Ramadas Keerthanai by Dr.BMK.

I am telling it is not NATABHAIRAVI.

I go by raga improvisations. I don't know swarams.
Here & there I listen to carnatic keerthanais & bhajans, along the way I pick up raga bhaavam to pattern match the melody. NOVICE!

wow, thx. so basically u recall a particular carnatic song when u listen to movie songs and go by that?

i am not too sure but i think sahana is based on two diff ragas. i agree that one of those ragas is sahana but not sure about the other one. The pallavi is certainly not sahana. sahana is clearly evident in the ending ooohooo ooohooho by female.

speaking of instrumentals, neone wanna listen to mayilirage instrumental (accordian) i made? here is the link: http://www.sendspace.com/file/x6gu0v (leave comments plz)

also, identifying using swarams is basically identifying the notes of the songs and matching it to a raga?

sry for al these questions, i dont have a lot of experience with this.

:ty:   mayilirage instrumental (accordion) !

Loving it! Very nice. Best version.
    Do you play accordion?

I mean it follows the natabairavi scale. It's not in carnatic style though, so don't look for raga saayal :P

    thineshan,

There is a thread in ICM forum on how to identify ragas. You can check it out. The gist however is, there's no clear cut method. It just comes out by repeated, careful listening.

    Thanks RR

    natabhairavi indeed.

remember, rehman's hindustani grounding is far stronger than his carnatic capabilities (so tune into the song as jonpuri probably and not natabhairavi :lol

  10. #1270
    JONPURI
Jaayen to Jaayen kagan.....Old Lata is JOUNPURI
Rahman has done a beautiful Jounpuri in Munbe vaa.
Anyway I am not into SWARA phrases mapping, so let me stay with the IMPROVISATIONS.

Regarding improvisations of Natabhairavi, I have already posted.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO the bgm beginning & time 3:02.... ...3:36 ETC.. for aanandham ...in the song Mayilirage...

    For the composition tune
, I pay attention to Saramati(Natabhairavi janya) maybe evening! Ragasiya snegidhaney...pallavi!

sonnadhu needhaana sol sol en uyirey....aahaa!! Let me grab my 'Nenjil Oru Aalayam/Vennira Aadai' album, hit the road to drop my son! ta.ta fellows! :goodidea:  :swinghead:
