hi draskum, in TFM post 80's, I have identified 2 good songs in Vasantha ragam
1. Maan kanden Maan kanden from film RajaRishi MD : IR
2. Iravil irandu paravaigaL from film Soundaryame varuga varuga MD: Vijayabhaskar.
Vintage film "Sampoorna Ramayana" has the song "veenai kodiyudaiya vendhane" where Vasantha ragam is one of the ragamalikas and picked as an evening raga

ill listen to songs and get back to u for more discussion . one more thing i want to know the ragam of medhuva medhuva pirivom sandhippom .vs id definitely riding high as he gives pleasing ragam based songs i really admire him

for learners vasantha is nothing but panthuvarali without r and d or may be sparingly used ri/da . (carnatic geats pls pardon me coz i am just an amateur i am just finding ways to learn ragams). i came to assumption after hearing a lot of songs in vasantha and panthuvarali

based on this i agree that andhimazhai comes in vasantha as ri comes in ending of charanam only at one instance and dha comes only in 2 instances in the song according to my keyboard notes.

1. Rahman’s JODHAA AKBAR , the song Jashn-E-Bahaara, very catchy pallavi, I am addicted to it, has the bhaavam of Rag Darbari Kanada Once you pass the initial prelude rhythm(sounds 1942 love story to me )

kanden kanden kaadhalai from pirivom sandhippom . did any1 hear this song by vs. the debate goes on again vasatha or panthuvarali. it has some shades of andhimazhai pozhigiradhu. but still panthuvarali feel is something i can never take off. like rojavai thaalattum thenral
